The average ($197,169) and median ($163,000) sales prices of single family homes in Lunenburg County are down just slightly from December 2008. Queens County sales saw a moderate gain in average ($131,753) and median ($113,500) prices for the same period. Raw sales experienced a significant drop for both Lunenburg and Queens counties relative to December 2008. Homes still take about six months to sell and the inventory of homes for sale for all of the South Shore is nearly the same as last December.
But even in the difficult overall economic environment South Shore homeowners in general are retaining the value in their homes. At the same time buyers have a good inventory from which to choose at attractive mortgage rates.
